Quote from USBCD36:
I think it would be cool to make the maze the Screw Attack icon though, it would fit very well that way.

I agree, though not for the SA icon that you see at the top of the forum and such. Just on that opening "splash" page.

I anticipate this going on the light table and being finished tonight.  I'm putting the pencils up here just in case I missed something.  Don't worry about it being off-center, I just couldn't be bothered to center it on the scanner, the colors won't be like that.
red chamber dream
Like I said on irc, the letters's sizing in "METROID" is screwed up, but everything else looks awesome. Can't wait to see the finished, coloured work.
by off-center, do you mean the 2oo2? that's all i see really. looking great.
Cook of the Sea
Yeah, like the whole thing, being on 9" wide paper on an 8.5" scanner, is done so a quarter inch should be cut off both sides for a final scan (I have an entire pad of paper I've precut to 8.5" wide for comic pages), and for this scan I just stuck it on the scanner with one side of the paper flush with the side of the scanner.
Looks much nicer than the first scan!

Seriously though, when are you going to have it colored?
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.
Samus' pelvis is twisted to her right a fair bit by the way you drew her left leg armor in front of her crotch armor, but her right leg armor in back, which puts her upper body movments into contortionist range.

Well, I get the impression that she's whirling around to fire a shot; she's not planning on staying in that position for long, which would probably be very difficult to do.
Cook of the Sea
It's not quite a 90 degree turn; no less is required of a trombone player in a marching band.  Believe me.
Samus Lauren
Heey, thats pretty nice there. Are planning on adding color, 'cause it would probably look fantastic with color. And i think i see what she's doing with her stance...And i agree with Ark: I hope she doesnt stay in that position for long. That would hurt. Lots.

Having been a trombone player in a marching band, I am forced to disagree with your statement and demand you alter it posthaste.
Actually, Saber is correct.  It's only a 90° turn, and it's not too uncomfortable.  I suppose you wouldn't want to stay in it for an hour or so, but stand up and try it yourself.  Not too bad, is it?
the background will be black, right?
Cook of the Sea
Yeah.  I'm nearly done with everything but the maze itself, and the background is straight PC935 Black, compare to any number of TPP pages.

There.  The entire maze still needs to be done, but I am tired.  Also I forgot to ask you if you dig green.  If you don't, I'm sure the letters can be digitally kung-fu'd into a different color.  The maze'll be done in green as well; the top will be black and the sides will fade from green to black going down.  Again, all that, I'm sure, can be digitally changed in color, but I'm going to go ahead with green for now.
lol no way
Fucking rad, man. I'm lovin' it, didn't get the maze thing at first, but the stance made sense, just because I know you're a stickler for proportions. Anyway, looks awesome.
Her ass looks huuuuuuuuuuge. But it's probably me. :P
it's actually the mechanical joints of the suit you're seeing, i believe. her ass fat would be differently configured if you could see through the suit. and saber, way to go. i have to say i'm rather embarrassed about my writing being absorbed into your art, but ...
Cook of the Sea
The Varia plates of the suit add a considerable layer of thickness to her hips.  Additionally, I committed a slight error when coloring that makes an optical illusion contributing to the effect, but it's easily fixed (I hope).  And nate, depending on what you mean by that, I could black over the quote in, you know, seconds, but if you didn't mean it that way, lemme just say that that quote's like one of the coolest things I've ever heard.  If I was proficient enough with the Prismas to do so and I didn't think it would kill the design, I'd have included snippets of that whole opening thing scattered in the background.  Is the color of the words working for you?
in the name of justice!

I like the green color for the most part, personally, though the quote at the bottom is REALLY hard to read on the monitors I have used to view the forum.

Awesome, saber.
Whoa! It's monitor recalibration time for me; I didn't even notice the quote and couldn't figure out what the hell you were talking about, then I saw a faint green circle and figured it must be that.  Looks excellent though, as soon as you have it cleaned up and fully colorized it will be great.

Edit: my gamma was pushed up to 2.2 before and that made the dark colors look REALLY dark, but I can at least see the quote now.  Not well, but I can see it.

"Our goal is to push the game as far as we can."
Cook of the Sea
Don't recalibrate your monitor on my account, the words are delibrately faint.  ...perhaps too faint, I might need to fix that.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
That's awesome Saber, I'd say the worsd are fine as they are, you could make them a bit easier to see but I figure it's more fun when you have to really pay attention  to see it.
Actually, it's a good thing, because when I was recalibrating it I noticed that my native response profile was WAY out of whack.  It also resolves the question of why some dark artifacts show up on edited images when I put them on other computers.
Cook of the Sea
Well I mean, my main concern is whether the green is good for a website splash image.  I'm confident of the choice of green from a design point of view, but I mean, compare to the current image.  Much more iconic.
