I like the green on the black (though would really like to see the 'metroid' squared and centered and all that), but I don't like it on the suit itself, especially with the red-orange.  I'm not familiar with the 3D games, but it just doesn't look right to me; I'd rather see it stay entirely in the warm yellows range and use orange only as accents.  Shading with a darker, more golden yellow to indicate three-dimensionality would be good too.  I also had the impression that her hair tended more to golden-blond than ash blond.  Of course, the first picture I ever saw of her was the cover of Play magazine in late 02, which is very gold-toned, so I'm undoubtedly biased by that.  But overall I have to say that I don't care too much for the yellow/red-orange/green suit.

Hm, I see where you're coming from, but lines of a contrasting bright color are something of a motif with my tech stuff.  They absolutely define all of my own designs, and in this case, I don't think the green words would look nearly as cohesive with the rest of the design if Samus was lacking the green in her suit.

Actually, my reference for the placement of the lines was primarily the Gravity Suit sprite from Zero Mission, with its destinctive pulsating running lights.
Hm.  To convey lights, you probably need a lighter and perhaps bluer green.  I guess my main objection is to the red-orange, really; it contrasts too strongly with both the yellow and the green.  It's like it's the darkest shade on the varia suit + the lightest shade on the power suit (going by SM).

If both the yellow were warmer and the orange were yellower I think there'd be more overall coherence and the green could look like an accent.  As it is, her morph ball form would look too much like this:

I love what I'm seeing, though I think the green should be a little brighter. It'll look fine either way, though.
lol. you know my monitor is bright when i say i had no trouble seeing the quote. was the most obvious thing in the world to me.

Quote from SABERinBLUE:
And nate, depending on what you mean by that, I could black over the quote in, you know, seconds, but if you didn't mean it that way, lemme just say that that quote's like one of the coolest things I've ever heard.  If I was proficient enough with the Prismas to do so and I didn't think it would kill the design, I'd have included snippets of that whole opening thing scattered in the background.  Is the color of the words working for you?

nah, don't misunderstand, i can definitely swallow it. it's just that i'm really not used to people making such overt tributes to me and what i stand for. in an ideal world, it would happen all the time, but because we don't live anywhere near perfect, there's walgreens ... er ... you know what i mean.

I can see the letters pretty well if I increase the gamma to 1.5. I then realize that my monitor looks horrible in conjunction with Saber's handwriting. :P

It is the absolute least I can do.  You'll see just how much I owe this site when TPP starts to kick into high gear.  I think it was just around when Echoes came out that I really "got" what this site was all about, and in my opinion it's time what you and this site stand for becomes more apparent.  I hope I do that with TPP, but in the meantime how's about we have an out-of-the-maze pic on yonder front page.

And Chan, I will definitely take a look at that once I get back to my dorm room.

After talking with nate, I have determined that I shall start this bit of art...OVER.  This is immensely satisfying to do, as I no longer like the image I started and I'm sure I could do much, much better.  Will keep you guys posted.

Cool. Can't wait to see the finished, finished work.

This is a just an idea (and yes she DOES have the tank top and shorts on), but if it manages to go where I hope, it might be really cool.

Is there still going to be a maze?
Cook of the Sea
I think so, yes.  If it goes in, she'll be standing on top of one of the walls and it'll be sprawling out behind her.

it better amaze someone at least.

Would it be too much to ask for a shinesparking Samus?
Cook of the Sea
I thought of that.  All of my other ideas involved a shinesparking Samus.  The runner-up to this one showed a birdseye view of Smus shinesparking straight out of the maze.  If this one doesn't turn out as well as I hope, I'll go to that one.
yeah, with her coming right at the camera. above it, it could say M2K2, and below it, RISE.

Unless you want her spinesharking THROUGH the walls.

Naw, that's emu rape.

Not really... unless you just spontanously walk through the wall because all your molecules spontaneously fit through the empty space in the wall's physical structure.

Hey, anyone criticizing that particular practice will have to take it up with Barry Allen.

Naw, the wall is the program itself.  If Samus has the ability to phase through the walls in this manner, that's a failing on the part of the wall and could in fact be construed as sequence breaking.  Jumping over the walls does not alter them in any way, and as such is not Rape.  Altering the walls--the programming--is Rape.
No, that's hax.
Cook of the Sea
I feel pretty weird disagreeing with you on this, but it's probably just semantics anyway.  What I mean by altering the programming is causing the game itself to behave in ways that it was never meant to behave, and by definition should not.  Savestates are an alteration of programming, not directly, but merely by adding the capacity to do this--which is programmed into the emulator--into the system of the game itself.  The code to be able to save states is not in the original game.  If you're able to do it while playing the game, the programming must be different somewhere.
Armor Guardian
States* are just snapshots of the RAM. None of the games' code is altered to faciltate (sp?) the use of saving states. The emulator just plugs the state back into the area the emu allocated for the RAM of the system.

*Yes, the proper term is state, not save state.
