I run this here hotel of an evening
ok, we've been waiting for this for awhile (i'm so excited i can barely type, i'll do my best though. bare with me, please)

using the SW in Sunchamber I was playing around, as this was my first time getting in. i walked around and found some water. not the first time i've found water in a sw, so i didn't think much of it. well, i was going to go save, so i went to door warp out in Sun Tower and was doing a bunch of jumps because i didn't want to float the whole way, and found that after i came out of the water, i had floaty jump. anyway, i tried door warping in Sun Tower, but it froze. i realized i'd forgotten to dump Sunchamber in all the excitement. so, i reset and killed flaahgra and tried again, dumping Sunchamber this time. it still froze. i then decided to door warp into Sunchamber Access, but forgot about the vines being on both sides. however, i did make it in between the vines, and i still had Floaty Jump.
so then, i decided to unsecretize the room between Sun Tower and Sunchamber, but couldn't figure out how to do it, so i ended up warping into Sunchamber Lobby instead, then bomb jumped back over the runic gate. for some reason, unlike in Echoes, bombs will increase your jump height, and you don't lose momentum in morph ball mode.

now then, for you non believers, i have it on video. it's on vhs as of now, and i need to know if Nate will be so kind as to capture it for me? the video starts as i get ready to enter the sw, standing atop the panel thingie. it shows me trying to unsecretize that one room i mentioned before (sorry, don't know the name) and then just going and warping in Sunchamber Lobby, bomb jumping over the gate, and then going into Gathering Hall and testing out the jump a bit.

think of what this could lead too, as all you need is space jump (and obviously bombs and stuff to actually get in the sw).
Thread title:
Wow! It is possible! *gives Odylg round of applause*

If you have a video, send it in. I'm sure Nate will like it.
I've confirmed it.  I'm detailing my finds at SCU.  Here's what I've got so far:

In Sun Chamber you can jump from the floor right to the rim of the room. A bomb jump gives you the same height as a single jump with floaty jump. In Sun Chamber Access, you can hit your head on the arched ceiling with one jump and nearly make it with a single bomb jump. In Sun Tower, a ghetto floaty jump will get you onto the gate, and you can floaty jump up the blocks and almost get up to the top for the Chozo artifact fight (didn't try jumping off an occulus though).

I'm thinking that this might lead to a walled IBJ. Unfortunately, to get a simple DBJ you have to set your second bomb quite low, so no super bomb jumps just yet.

Yippie! I've got a few devious ideas for this floaty jump in the Chozo ruins: Early energy tank in Furnace, possible Energy Tank in Training Chamber, easier SW in Training Chamber, and possibly a few floaty jump SWs (like at the entrance to Chozo ruins).

Most excelent work Odylg!  This opens up so much more interesting possibilites.  As if Prime wasn't amazing enough.
cool.

out of interest, Odylg, were you aware of how to exit sunchamber before the secret world section on m2k2 went up ?
A single floaty jump gives slightly more height than a single floaty morphball bomb jump. A floaty morphball single bomb jump gives the same height as a DBJ (seen getting the missle expansion in Vault where you bomb the 3 slots). You can do a floaty 3bj - set the second bomb at about 2 morphball heights up and the 3rd near the peak. So far the floaty 3bjs have gotten a height just under a floaty space jump.

Early Missile Expansion in Furnace: Floaty jump up the spider tracks (from the boiler say) and then jump at the curved portion holding the missile. Once you are right next to it, hold forward and morph. I've nearly been able to make it with a floaty 3bj.

Floaty jump: another reason to take a look into Secret Worlds.

I'm not Odylg obviously, but I'll reply to your question.  I've only been able to get into that SW because of your video.  Before that I always tried from the small ledge next to the first piller (instead of the one after the second pillar).  I actually tried this one with the correct method for the first time just last night (but Flaggra was still alive and soon killed me).  You're videos *really* help when the text descriptions don't.
that's cool, I feel vindicated now.

I also have the timing for an IBJ by just doing a slower HBJ:

red chamber dream
Oh, wow, nice find, Odylg. And nice IBJ, Grenola. Too bad we have to use a SW to get it to work in the first place...ah well.
How/When do you lose floaty jump? The same as Echoes?
Awesome find. Once we get the video of getting Floaty jump up, I would love to try this.
yeah, you lose it when you touch water or ride an elevator. sucks. :/

to collect it, you just need to enter the sunchamber secret world after having just beaten flaahgra and walk under the map into the water and then out again. Then you need to get back into the map, which can be done either by floating all the way to the top of sunchamber and dropping back in or by a short wallcrawl.
God. Why didn't i post earliyer. Any ways Congrats man for finding this. And DJ nice floaty bomb jump. Damn i can never to mange to pull of the infinate one near Parasite Queen.
Yippee! i got it! I used a different method to get onto the panel since i can't jump onto the rims. i dashed jumped off of the adjacent panel while standing on the highest little ledge next to the door. But i lost the floaty jump when i desecretized in the runic gate. :(  boo.
Nice job. As you may know, I've been looking for a MP1 floaty jump. But I was using the cutscene method from MP2. Never though a SW would do it. Any guesses as to why?
It is because you had to leave the water from the sides and not the top. the dark water in echoes teleports you through the platform first then onto it. where as the hive totem is on a ramp and will move you out of it first then onto the island. might not be right, but its the way i see it.
always move fast
the mp2 one works anywhere in the room afaik.  the general thought was that the pushing effect on the dark water carried over through the cutscene.  such water does not exist in mp1.
If you loose it to water, you can always get it back :)  It is the destruction of Flaahgra that  makes all water in the Chozo ruins grant Floaty Jump.  This also means that if you don't like the Sun Chamber SW, you can always dispatch Flaahgra and enter another SW (say Gathering Hall or Watery Hall).  If you save and reset, or take an elevator and come back, you cannot regain floaty jump.

I'd be interested to know how floaty jump (and the slowed morphball) compair to AR'ed moonjump in terms of height.
Sorry but Moon jump has infinate height and  infinate X in morphball mode.
I think floaty jump works because both the acids in Flaggra place and the dark water in the Chykka place give you an extra "lift" effect if you fall in. It is programmed that way so you wont get stuck and die if you ever fell in them. That is what gives you floaty jump because i tried it in the landing site SW and it didn't work.
btw do can any of you help me? I never seem to be able to get out of the Sunchamber SW. I really dont know how to float, it doesn't seem to make me rise. :(
(user is banned)
so, hypothetically, if you were to step in the flaahgra water then activate the flaahgra cutscene, would you get floaty?

This is very interesting, as this shows that they really didnt change much between prime and 2...

What do you get the jump from? SW water?
No, the cutscene triggers right when you walk in and the panel/bomb cutscenes dont do anything. refer to this page to see what i mean.

the only way to get floaty jump is if you exited the water from the sides since the water pushes you up. Its a little complicated.
Hey we have the same avatar :) .

yeah, but only after having beaten flaahgra and not used an elevator. we're assuming it works because of the transition that takes place in the ruins when the toxic water turns to normal water, although why it stops working after using an elevator and why it only works with SW water is unclear.

you need to stand beyond the room's boundaries to be able to float. Imagine a box that contains the entire room. you need to be outside the box. it is also very slow.

however, you only need to use the sunchamber SW if you want to proceed without varia (you're locked in until you collect it). Otherwise you can just collect varia and then use one of the other ruins secret worlds in a room that contains water (gathering hall and watery hall spring to mind).
i have the PC version so no watery hall. And wouldn't it be harder to get out of gathering hall?
EDIT: When i leave sunchamber through the way i came and head down to the room right before the arboretum, floaty jump goes away... :( . Did this happen to anyone else?
I think touching the Venom Weed may kill floaty jump. You move differently in it, and when you leave it the movement variables would reset to normal, killing floaty jump.
Venom weed doesn't affect it, the game variables just think that you're underwater.  Whenever you hear that sound when you are unable to unmorph from morph ball, it has a dampened effect as though you're underwater.  So basically this little glitch just reduces the gravity when you're out of the water.

So far with floaty jump, 3 SWs have been found, the energy tank in Training Chamber has been acquired, missile expansion in Dynamo has been acquired with IBJ, and Suntower has been climbed without spider ball, varia, and super missiles, IBJ from the bottom of the room to the very top.

This is one of the biggest finds in a long time  :D

EDIT: As for having floaty jump just disappearing after you wallcrawl back towards, Arboretum, that shouldn't be happening.  Could you tell us exactly what it is you're doing before the Floaty Jump disappears?
It's amazing how this game is almost four years old, and stuff like this is still being found.
