You can shoot at Tallon IV but not destroy it... pity Note you can see your attacks hit the planet like if it was a solid surface. Best observed using Missiles or Super Missiles.

If you have the second player in the game look at the other player shooting from another angle, you can plainly see that you aren't hitting Tallon IV, but an invisible wall that sits between you and the end of the room.
