27% GAME
(Thanks: Amasawa, Banks17, DEVILBIT, kip)
Since the first Metroid, low percent games are a challenge gamers are looking for. Since the release of MP, people have found a way to complete the game with 29%, using only 1 Energy Tank and 5 Missiles. Then, they found out they could skip the Thermal Visor and dropped to 28%.
It is now proven that you can skip the Grapple Beam for a 27% game. kip was the first one to complete a 27% game! But more recently, we found a way to get rid of the Gravity Suit, but when you skip it, you have to pick up a Powerbomb Expansion (to skip the Crashed Frigate) and the main Powerbombs, because the Elite Pirate is only triggered once you get them. That means you still end up with a 27% run. Doing this would be harder though because you don't have the extra protection the Gravity Suit offers you.
All in all, there are now 2 ways of doing a 27% run. Here is a list of the items you'll need and the reason why you can't skip them. Everything that is not listed here does not need to be used (Note: The Gravity Suit is not required if you skip the Crashed Frigate):
Missile Launcher: Opens various locked doors.
Wave Beam: Opens purple doors.
Ice Beam: Opens white doors.
Plasma Beam: Opens red doors.
Charge Beam: Needed to use the Super Missiles.
Super Missiles: Needed to break the 2 runic symbol's Cordite casings in the Sun Tower (on the way to the Sunchamber's artifact)
Morph Ball: Access various areas through morph ball tunnels. (I give 2$ to the one who completes the game without it)
Morph Ball Bombs: Break rocks to access certain areas, also used to dbj and tbj.
Boost Ball: Activate spinners.
Spider Ball: Needed in Metroid Quarantine A and Sun Tower.
Power Bombs: Needed to open various areas, such as the tunnel to get the X-Ray Visor.
Space Jump: Jumping high. At least, if you want to skip the grapple beam you absolutely need the Space Jumps.
X-Ray Visor: Needed to damage Omega Pirate. Without it, your shots go right through him.
Varia Suit: Needed to get through Magmoor Caverns without taking damage from the heat.
Phazon Suit & Beam: Needed to go in Hyper Mode in the Phazon pools during Metroid Prime's second form
Gravity Suit: Needed to go through Crashed Frigate in Method 1. Not needed in Method 2.
