Notes:
- Climb to the cradle where the super missiles were (in the middle of the room opposite the save door). You need to stand on the "shoulder" of this cradle (see the video). A normal jump will not provide the height, but it may be reached using either a ghetto jump off the slants near the base of the cradle (as shown in the upper left video) or alternatively a UBJ unmorph (as shown in the upper right video). From here, jump to the metal ring that runs all the way around the observatory walls and morph as you reach it. This ring does not have proper clipping detection, so you will stick into the ring. Now begin boosting like crazy while holding the control stick backwards and towards the walls of the observatory. Eventually the game's clipping will be defeated and you will be shot clean through the wall (as shown in the video below). Remember to unmorph as soon as possible afterwards.
- It is believed that this works because of the "stored boost" effect which sometimes occurs when playing the game normally, where the boost ball will stick into the floor mid-boost and subsequent boosts will be "stored" in the ball. When the clipping releases the morph ball, all the stored boosts will be activated simultaneously and the ball will shoot off at extremely high speed. In the case of the observatory secret world, this huge speed means that the ball moves from inside the observatory to outside the observatory in one clipping detection sample period and hence the clipping detection related to the walls is never applied.
- There is very little rhyme or reason to this secret world and it is rather awkward and frustrating. Several hours of attempts may be required to exploit the bug successfully.
